资源简介:
This This study utilized a cross-sectional design to investigate the sociodemographic, environmental, and behavioral factors associated with malaria positivity among children under five years of age in internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in Nigeria. Data were collected through structured questionnaires administered to caregivers (guardians/parents) of eligible children between [insert data collection period]. The study focused on IDP camps due to the heightened vulnerability of displaced populations to infectious diseases, including malaria, as a result of overcrowding, poor sanitation, and limited access to healthcare (Himeisen et al., 2019).
A multistage sampling approach was employed to ensure representativeness. First, four major IDP camps (Durumi, Kabusa, Kuchingoro, and Wassa) were purposively selected based on population density and reported malaria burden. Within each camp, households with at least one child under five were randomly selected, and one eligible child per household was included in the study. Caregivers provided informed consent before participating in face-to-face interviews conducted by trained fieldworkers. The questionnaire captured variables including:
• Sociodemographic characteristics (guardian/parent age, gender, marital status, education level, occupation, household size).
• Housing and environmental conditions (floor/wall/roof materials, stagnant water near the home, bed net availability and usage).
• Malaria knowledge and health-seeking behavior (source of malaria information, perception of prevention, treatment accessibility).
• Child health data (age, sex, recent malaria symptoms, and Rapid Diagnostic Test [RDT] results).
