Global and Regional Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) from SPOT-VGT and PROBA-V, 1998-present

Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) can be related to the vegetation photosynthetic activity. It is an indicator that quantifies the amount of green vegetation and is closely linked to the Fraction of Absorbed Photosynthetically Active Radiation (FAPAR). NDVI is computed from visible (red) and near-infrared (NIR) reflectances. The NDVI products are distributed in zip archives. The archive contains (1) single band HDF 5 format NDVI; (2) a xml file containing the metadata and an xsl file displaying a friendly view of the metadata file; and (3) a quicklook in a colored geotiff format. The NDVI product is derived from SPOT-VGT and PROBA-V sensors.
