The complete mitochondrial genome sequence of the horn fly, Haematobia irritans irritans, was determined at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Brazil. A comparison of the cytochrome c oxidase subunit I genes of the horn fly, stable fly, and house fly was published by de Oliveira et al. (2005).
