This is a pilot release of the package containing details regarding the Joe Francese Mineral Collection, one of the largest private mineral collections amassed by an individual collector. This collection is now in the custody of the Queensland Museum and features a wide array of Australian and international minerals and gemstones accumulated over 50 years by avid amateur mineralogist Joe Francese.
The bulk of this collection is housed at the Queensland Museum Hendra Collections & Research Centre. This data package is supported by the EarthBank Node at The University of Queensland (UQ).
Specimens were donated to the Queensland Museum by Joe Francese on 21 July 2021 as part of the Francese Mineral Collection. For more information please contact the Queensland Museum Geosciences Collection Manager/s at geoscience.inquiry@qm.qld.gov.au
Future release is predicted to be mid 2026 and will contain a large number of samples.
