Streptococcus gallolyticus strain:MTR-Sg-DF01 Genome sequencing

Streptococcus gallolyticus, a member of the Streptococcus bovis/equinus complex, is a Gram-positive bacterium commonly found in the gastrointestinal tract of humans and animals. Although often a commensal organism, it is strongly associated with bacteremia, infective endocarditis, and colorectal cancer (CRC). The organism can invade the bloodstream when intestinal integrity is disrupted and possesses virulence factors that promote adhesion and biofilm formation. Because S. gallolyticus infections frequently correlate with underlying colorectal lesions, its detection in clinical samples warrants further gastrointestinal evaluation.
