Whole Genome Sequencing of Enterobacteriaceae

The trend of increasing antimicrobial resistance now becomes a serious concern and hot debate worldwide. But at a same time this issue is a more critical for public health developing countries. To address these concerns this study is conducted on multiple drug resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae isolated from hospitalized patient. K. pneumoniae is gram negative bacteria that causes severe infections like pneumonia, meningitis and blood stream infections. To treat these infections multiple classes of antibiotics are being used. Carbapenems is a class of beta-lactam antibiotics that act as last resort to treat life threatening infections, but K. pneumonie has develop resistant against many promising antimicrobial drugs.
