The low cost adsorbent lemon peel has been tested for the effectiveness in the removal of Magenta dye from waste water.Effect of various parameters such as agitation time, initial dye concentration, pH, temperature and adsorbent dosage has been investigated in this study. The adsorption is best described by second order kinetics. The equilibrium data are fitted to the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm equations. The adsorption of dye increased with increase in temperature from 302K to 322K indicated the process endothermic and spontaneous. Desorption studies show that adsorption of dye on lemon peel is chemisorpic.
