### Overview
This dataset is derived from full-resolution buoy position data provided by the International Arctic Buoy Program (IABP). Level 1 buoy data was retrieved from the IABP public archive (https://iabp.apl.uw.edu/LEVEL1_Access.html) and spans January 2000 to August 2025. The dataset is organized into individual comma-separated value (CSV) files, each corresponding to a single continuous buoy trajectory. A trajectory is defined as a time-contiguous segment of buoy observations. Trajectories are segmented when observation gaps exceed 3 months and when overlapping deployments are present for the same buoy identifier. When a buoy id corresponds to multiple distinct deployments or discontinuous trajectories, these trajectories are distinguished using an underscore and letter suffix. Segments are labeled with underscore-letter suffixes in order of segment start time. Each file is named starting with the date, followed by the buoy id, and the segment label, if applicable (i.e., YYYYMMDD\_ID.csv, or YYYYMMDD\_ID_a.csv).

Each CSV file contains data for a single buoy trajectory and includes the following fields:
- buoy_id
- datetime (UTC, YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS)
- year
- day of year (doy)
- latitude (degrees north)
- longitude (degrees east)
- quality control flag (0.0 = valid, 1.0 = erroneous)
