The Lion Monument (Löwendenkmal) is located in [Lucerne, Switzerland](http://www.luzern.com/en/lion-monument). The monument commemorates the Swiss Guards who were massacred in 1792 during the French Revolution, when revolutionaries stormed the Tuileries Palace in Paris, France.
