More recently, geographic patterns in bacterioplankton and microeukaryotes have attracted increasing attention. However, the generality in the patterns and underlying mechanisms in both microbial groups are still poorly resolved. In particular, knowledge of whether bacterioplankton environmental assembled by the same or different mechanisms as microeukaryotes in plateau lakes was still limited. In this study, we investigated the geographic patterns of bacterial and microeukaryotic communities of 23 lakes on the Tibetan Plateau and quantified the relative influence of assembly mechanisms in shaping both plankton communities.
