Trend Questions Climate (January 2022): Energy

On behalf of the Press and Information Office of the German Federal Government, the Kantar opinion research institute conducts quarterly surveys on attitudes toward climate protection and the assessment of political measures to protect the climate. In the 1st quarter of 2022, questions on energy policy formed a thematic focus.<br>Confidence in the new German government with regard to successfully advancing the energy transition; opinion on the pace of the coal phase-out; opinion on the price level for various products and services (electricity, heating costs, food, fuels such as gasoline or diesel, public transportation); concerns about possible consequences of climate change; assessment of current political measures for climate protection; informedness about opportunities to personally contribute to climate protection; assessment of various political projects (use of all suitable roof surfaces for solar energy, use of 2% of land areas for wind energy, construction of modern gas-fired power plants that can later also be operated with hydrogen or biomethane, abandonment of nuclear power, acceleration of planning and approval procedures for wind power plants, electricity and hydrogen grids, expansion of charging infrastructure for electric cars, establishment of climate partnerships with other major industrialized countries).

Demography: sex; age; highest level of education; occupation; household size; number of persons in the household aged 14 and over; party preference; voter eligibility; household net income (grouped); survey by mobile or landline.

Additionally coded: respondent ID; weighting factor; interview date; city size (BIK); federal state; survey area west/east.
