Estrelloso, N.A.L., Bernido, C.C., Velonta, J.A. and Violanda, R.R. El Niño–Southern Oscillation teleconnections to soil moisture and vapor pressure deficit across three Philippine climate regimes. Drought stress arises from two sides: a water-supply constraint carried by soil moisture and an atmospheric-demand constraint carried by vapor pressure deficit. This deposit contains the data and code used to determine how ENSO propagates into each side at Manila, Cebu and Davao — three cities spanning three Modified Coronas climate types — and to characterise the memory timescale of each variable. ERA5 reanalysis subsets (GRIB, 1995–2024) for the three sites: 2 m temperature and dewpoint, from which vapor pressure deficit is computed, and volumetric soil water in layer 2 as root-zone soil moisture. A Jupyter notebook reproduces every table and figure in the paper; the RONI index (NOAA CPC) is embedded in its configuration cell. A README, pinned requirements and licence terms are included. Install the requirements, place the GRIB files in a folder named grib files, and run the notebook top to bottom. The final cell verifies the output against the published values. Note that cfgrib requires the ECMWF eccodes library. Generated using Copernicus Climate Change Service information (ERA5). Neither the European Commission nor ECMWF is responsible for any use that may be made of the Copernicus information or data it contains. RONI is produced by the NOAA Climate Prediction Center and is in the public domain.
