Data for the study "Adsorption preceding wetting front controls seismic velocity"
收藏资源简介:
Here we provide the experimental dataset for the study entitled, 'Adsorption preceding wetting front controls seismic velocity', prepared by Wu et al. (2025). This study investigates how vapor adsorption ahead of the advancing wetting front modifies rock elasticity and wave propagation over 80 hours. Using coupled ultrasonic and optical measurements, we captured the sequential softening (adsorption stage) and stiffening (liquid infiltration stage) in a sandstone specimen. The dataset is provided in two MATLAB .mat files: Data_Ultra.mat — Ultrasonic velocity data (P-wave velocity evolution at multiple heights). Data_Image.mat — Digital image correlation (DIC) and wetting-front tracking data. All measurements were synchronized in time and can be jointly analyzed to reconstruct the evolution of elastic velocity and local strain fields during wetting. File 1: Data_Ultra.mat Variable Description Unit t_tot Time vector corresponding to ultrasonic acquisition s Vp_Lower P-wave velocity along the lower ray path m/s Vp_Middle P-wave velocity along the middle ray path m/s Vp_Upper P-wave velocity along the upper ray path m/s File 2: Data_Image.mat Variable Description Unit CropMeanProfile Structure containing raw DIC displacement and strain data (fields listed below) — Structure: CropMeanProfile Field Description Size Unit ImageTime Image acquisition timestamps 247×1 datetime Vdisp Vertical displacement map 422×247 px diffVdisp, diffUdisp Temporal displacement increments 371×247 px Vdispstd, Udispstd Standard deviation of displacements 422×247 px Exx, Eyy, Exy 2D strain components (horizontal, vertical, shear) 422×247 — Exxstd, Eystd, Exy_std Standard deviation of strain components 422×247 — Ev, Evstd Volumetric strain and its standard deviation 422×247 —
