With the increasingly severe global energy and environmental problems and the proposal of China's "dual carbon" target, it has become a consensus for electric vehicles (EVs) to replace traditional fuel vehicles and spread globally. In the context of the digital economy, artificial intelligence (AI) is widely used in the field of EVs. Therefore, we use the panel data of 28 representative cities in China from 2010 to 2019, adopt the fixed effect model, and incorporate AI application , to explore the impact of AI application, number of charging piles, financial subsidies, population density, purchasing power, range anxiety, resale anxiety and other influencing factors on the adoption of EVs. At the same time, we also explore the moderating effect of AI application on the impact of charging piles and consumer anxiety on EVs adoption. The results show that AI application significantly and positively influences the adoption of EVs; AI application significantly and positively moderates the positive effect of charging piles on the adoption of EVs; AI application significantly and negatively moderates the negative effect of consumer anxiety on the adoption of EVs. Finally, based on the consumer demand, suggestions are proposed for the government and car companies to develop EVs production and design toward intelligence; and a series of suggestions are proposed for improving the construction of smart grids and smart charging piles.
