资源简介:
This dataset is from a study that determined the changes in parasitaemia, chemo-suppression and selected biochemical parameters in Plasmodium berghei passaged albino rats orally co-administered artemether lumefantrine, artesunate amodiaquine and dihydroartemisin piperaquine phosphate with rifampicin, erythromycin and aqueous seed extracts of Cola nitida and Garcinia kola.
Using Rane’s test 27 albino rats randomized into 9 groups of 3 rats each were passaged with Plasmodium berghei except for the control Group A administered water only. Some infected groups were treated with water, the ACTs and aqueous seed extracts of Cola nitida and Garcinia kola alone while other infected rats were treated with the ACTs co-administered with aqueous seed extracts, rifampicin and erythromycin respectively (see Experimental design). All treatments with aqueous seed extracts and rifampicin commenced 14 days before inoculation with Plasmodium berghei and continued with other treatments on day 3 post inoculation through day 6 using steel cannula. Serum ALT and AST activities, serum bilirubin, urea, creatinine, sodium, potassium, bicarbonate, chloride, total protein, albumin and globulin concentration as well as full blood count were determined from blood collected through ocular puncture using standard methods on day 9.
