Tropical Cyclone AVA made landfall on the north-east coast of Madagascar on 5 January, moving south and west over the course 6 January, causing heavy rainfall and strong winds. Flooding, interruptions to communications networks and power cuts have been reported in the north, north-east and eastern area of the country. <br>
