Neisseria mucosa are commensal bacteria of the oro- and nasopharynx. Sporadically, it can give rise to severe opportunistic infections. We first investigated the taxogenomics of the species, which was shown to be split into two different lineages. These two lineages had strong genomic differences in term of size, shared genes and virulence factor contents.
