Bottom sediments of the lake play an important role in the functioning of lake ecosystems, participate in the cycle of matter and energy, and are the habitat for representatives of all domains of life. At the same time, bottom sediments contain fossil organisms, the quantitative and qualitative composition of which makes it possible to draw paleoecological conclusions about the evolution of the lake ecosystem, as well as about probable climate changes.
