3D Culture Heritage DNA data storage

We investigated the reliability of DNA as a medium for data storage. We developed a translation layer between digital data and DNA sequences using 3D digital cultural heritage. Our encoding approach achieved high data-density efficiency and offered experimental flexibility through optimized oligos. We proposed rapid de novo decoding of DNA data using index sorting and local Reed Solomon pass and fail recovery process for low local depths. Perfectly recovered cultural heritage files were 3D printed using various materials. The DNA ink selected from low copy pools was patterned, stored on paper, and successfully recovered. Our findings demonstrate the potential of rapid decoding processes for DNA data, with applications in metadata storage and virtual reality devices.
