We performed two sets of experiments with individual fish from the species Heterandria formosa:
First, a series of behavioral assays to record swimming activity and freezing behavior. Second, feeding trials with varying prey densities. In the final step we checked if results from the behavioral assays were suitable to predict quantitative feeding behavior within the functional response model framework. We found that body size was a better predictor for feeding rates than behavioral assays. For the full methodology, as well as background, results and discussion, see
