Comparative transcriptomics of Indian mustard (Brassica juncea) upon successful and unsuccessful infestation by aphid species Lipaphis erysimi and Aphis craccivora respectively

Indian mustard (B. juncea), is one of the major oil yielding crops belonging to a rapeseed-mustard group. The yield of this crop suffers heavily due to infestation by mustard aphid L. erysimi. On contrary, cowpea aphid Aphis craccivora which colonizes mostly legume species when released on B. juncea fails to colonize the plants. A comparative assessment of host response of B. juncea independently infested with L. erysimi and A. craccivora was carried out by transcriptome sequencing of infested leaf samples.
