The primary objectives of the PCS investigation were to successfully grow binary colloidal crystal alloy structures to monitor their nucleation and growth kinetics with static and dynamic light scattering, determine their structures using laser light crystallography and the properties of the superlattices using dynamic light scattering. In addition, the structure and dynamics of gel-like structures formed by colloid-polymer mixtures will be measured using static and dynamic light scattering and the ultimate equilibrium structures behavior of the mixture will be determined. Finally, large scale fractal colloid aggregates and gels will be grown to measure their mechanical properties using dynamic light scattering, and potentially the cell oscillation techniques.
