CAN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE PRESERVE THE AUTHOR'S STYLE? A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF HUMAN AND AI LITERARY TRANSLATION
收藏资源简介:
This paper explores the capability of generative Artificial Intelligence Translation to preserve an author’s idiosyncratic literary style in comparison with professional Human Translation. The study specifically focuses on the semantic, pragmatic and stylistic landscape of the prominent Uzbek writer Utkir Hoshimov. Utilizing a parallel corpus extracted from Hoshimov’s masterwork “Dunyoning ishlari” (1982) and its authorized English translation “Such is Life” (2024) by Mark Reese and Abdullajon Ruziev, we evaluate Human Translation against Artificial Intelligence. The comparison is conducted across five main variables, including lexical choice, sentence length rhythm, rhetorical repetition, imagery and emotional tone. The findings reveal that while AI demonstrates high semantic speed and structural readability, it fundamentally flattens the pragmatic depth, realia and deep emotional resonance inherent in Hoshimov’s works.
