Microarray analysis was performed to analyze genes expressed in whole epidermis and upper epidermis (SG1 and SG2 cells) isolated from healthy human skins. Whole epidermal sheets were separated from dermis by dispase treatment, and upper epidermal sheets containing SG1/2 cells were separated from lower epidermis using exfoliative toxin-A.
