THE ROLE OF THE GREEN ECONOMY IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT UNDER CLIMATE CHANGE

Climate change represents one of the most critical challenges to global stability, necessitating a fundamental shift from traditional linear economic models to sustainable frameworks. This study examines the role of the green economy in achieving sustainable development goals amidst escalating climate risks. Using a systematic literature review and comparative analysis of global case studies, this paper evaluates the effectiveness of green economic policies in reducing carbon emissions, enhancing resource efficiency, and promoting social equity. The findings indicate that transitioning to a green economy significantly mitigates environmental degradation while fostering long-term economic resilience. However, structural barriers such as high initial investment costs, technological gaps, and regulatory inconsistencies remain significant obstacles. The study concludes that integrated policy frameworks, international cooperation, and innovative financing mechanisms are essential for accelerating the green transition. These insights contribute to the broader discourse on environmental economics and provide strategic recommendations for policymakers aiming to balance ecological integrity with economic growth.
