Substrate and root associated bacteriome of petunia

We investigated the effect of fertilization rate on the bacterial communities in peat-based substrate, and the rhizosphere and roots of two petunia cultivars (Picobella Blue and Wave Purple). Petunias and unplanted pots were fertilized with 20N-1.3P-15.7K petunia FeED water-soluble fertilizer at low (25 mg/L N), medium (100 mg/L N) and high (200 mg/L N) levels. Samples were collected 7 weeks after transplant. Unplanted substrate, rhizosphere and root samples were collected for 16S amplicon sequencing to profile the bacteriome.
