The nematode D. coronatus is phylogeneticaly placed in between the model organism Caenorhabditis elegans and its satellite Pristionchus pacificus. D. coronatus's reproduction by parthenogenesis and its embryogenesis are different from those of the two well-studied nematodes. The genome sequencing of D. coronatus will facilitate to realize the evolution of these nematodes.
