Pre-Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection Th17 CD4+ T cells as predictors of early HIV disease progression

This dataset contains de-identified immunophenotyping data used in the manuscript assessing the relationship between pre-HIV IL-17⁺ CD4⁺ T (Th17) cell frequencies and HIV disease progression. The dataset includes flow cytometry-derived measurements generated by the authors from archived cryopreserved peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) collected prior to HIV infection in participants from the HVTN 503 and Partners PrEP/Couples’ Observational Study (PP/COS) cohorts. Th17 cells were defined as IL-17⁺ CD4⁺ T cells, with additional cytokine-expressing subsets quantified, including IFN-γ, TNF-α, IL-22, and GM-CSF. All data are fully de-identified. To minimize the risk of participant re-identification, the dataset contains only immune measurements generated for this study and derived clinical variables relevant to the analyses, including summary measures such as mean CD4/CD8 ratios, peak viral load, and set-point viral load. Direct identifiers and potentially identifying variables (e.g., age, sex, study site, dates, and visit-level clinical data) have been removed.
