资源简介:
The goal of this study is to document changes over time in ion and trace element aerosol concentrations at the Barrow Long Term Measurement Station. The measurements began in 1997. Funding for this project has come from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Department of Energy (DOE), and beginning in 2002, National Science Foundation (NSF). Submicron samples are collected on a 24-96 hour basis depending on season and aerosol loading. Supermicron samples are collected for 7 to 28 day periods, also depending on the season. The sample air volume minimum for analysis is 2.2 cubic meters (m^3). The submicron - supermicron split is made with a Berner-type cascade impactor having a cut size of 1.0 micron (um) at the relative humidity (RH) of the sample stream. Hence, the submicron data are for particle sizes less than 1.0 um and supermicron data are for particle sizes greater than 1.0 um and less than 10 um. The RH of the sampled aerosol is less than 40 percent (%). All samples have been analyzed by ion chromatography (IC) for methane sulfonate anion (MSA-), chloride (Cl-), bromide (Br-), nitrate (NO3-), sulfate (SO4-2), oxalate, sodium (Na+), ammonium (NH4+), potassium (K+), magnesium (Mg2+), and calcium (Ca+2). Winter/Spring Barrow submicron samples were also analyzed by xray fluorescence (XRF) for magnesium (Mg), aluminum (Al), silicon (Si), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S), chlorine (Cl), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), titanium (Ti), vanadium (V), chromium (Cr), manganese (Mn), iron (Fe), cobalt (Co), nickel (Ni), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), gallium (Ga), germanium (Ge), arsenic (As), selenium (Se), bromine (Br), rubidium (Rb), strontium (Sr), yttrium (Y), zirconium (Zr), molybdenum (Mo), palladium (Pd), silver (Ag), cadmium (Cd), indium (In), tin (Sn), antimony (Sb), barium (Ba), lanthanum (La), mercury (Hg), lead (Pb), and tungsten (W).
