Three Gen6 Saildrone Explorer USVs were launched from Newport, Rhode Island in December 2021. The five objectives of this mission include collecting atmospheric and oceanographic data from the Gulf Stream during winter months for inclusion in European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF)'s weather forecasting pipeline, and to collect dissolved CO2 measurements from Gen2 ASVCO2 systems to understand carbon flux in the area.
