Shotgun metagenome of microbial community in mangrove sediments in a depth range of 100 cm

Mangroves are highly productive ecosystems with immense ecological values towards shoreline protection, climate mitigation, and carbon storage. To better understand the microbial community, whose interactions affect the diversity, composition, structure and ecosystem functioning, we collected a total of 50 samples from the partially air-exposed sediments dominated by K. obovate using a custom-made PVC sampling column (a 100-cm depth and a 10-cm diameter) in December 2019, Zhuhai, and sliced them into 10 stratums (0-5 cm, 5-10 cm, 10-15 cm, 15-20 cm, 20-30 cm, 30-40 cm, 40-50 cm, 50-60 cm, 60-80 cm and 80-100 cm).
