This dataset contains two-photon calcium imaging data from the CA1 region of the mouse hippocampus during learning of a virtual reality-based behavioral task. The data was collected as mice learned to perform a 2-alternative cue-delay-choice (2ACDC) task requiring them to associate specific visual cues with reward locations in two different virtual linear tracks.<b>Dataset Contents:</b>Two-photon calcium imaging recordings from thousands of neurons in dorsal CA1.Behavioral data including running speed and licking behaviorVirtual reality task parameters and trial informationMulti-day registered imaging data with cell ROIs and fluorescence traces<b>Data Collection Methods:</b>Imaging was performed using a custom two-photon random access mesoscope (2P-RAM) through a 3mm cranial window. GCaMP6f fluorescence signal was recorded at 10Hz. Behavioral data was collected as mice navigated virtual reality environments on a spherical treadmill. Multiple sessions were recorded per animal over days to weeks of learning.This dataset supports research examining how cognitive maps form in the hippocampus during learning. The data reveals the gradual emergence of an orthogonalized state machine representation that mirrors improvements in task performance.
