DBA/2N Ahsg -/- mice suffer from sever soft tissue calcification. Gene expression in brown adipose tissue isolated from the pelvic region of 6 week old mice was analyzed, representing early stage calcification. Evaluation of the gene expression pattern was performed to provide insights into the mechanisms associated with soft tissue calcification. Overall design: Animals were perfused with 20 ml ice-cold PBS to rinse blood from the circulation unless otherwise stated. RNA was extracted from pelvic brown adipose tissue.
