Decision-making dysfunctions in binge eating disorder

Binge eating disorder (BED) is the most common eating disorder, which involves people eating large amounts of food in short time periods, with distressing feelings of being unable to control what or how much they are eating. The most important factors that contribute to BED and determine how people respond to treatment are not well understood. This thesis sheds light on these factors by researching decision-making – our styles of thinking and their brain-based foundations. It defines decision-making difficulties characteristic of BED and explores effective ways to assess and improve them.
