Effect of captivity on the gut microbes of wild common kestrel

This study conducted the 16s rRNA high-throughput sequencing of microorganisms in feces from 17 rescued individuals of common kestrels (Falco tinnunculus) before and after captivity and analyzed their gut microbiota. The results demonstrated that the relative abundance of particular microbes in the gut of the rescued kestrels either increased or decreased and revealed that dietary and environmental changes might be the main factors affecting their gut microbiota during rescue or captivity.
