VPRS 15212 Council Notice Papers (GRS 1138)

This series consists of orders of the day for consideration by Council and notices of motion to be put to Council. Notice papers were issued to all councillors prior to council meetings. Through the notice papers, Councillors were notified of the dates and times of forthcoming meetings and provided with copies of any reports as background information to issues on the agendas. Copies of notice papers were required by legislation to be forwarded to councillors prior to council meetings. The municipal Institutions Act 1863 (27 VIC No. 184) established the requirements which included the period of notice to be given to councillors and to state the object of the meeting.The notice papers contain:- a request or summary from the Town Clerk to councillors to attend the meetings- details of any extraordinary business, special order or motions on notice- reports of committees which include, for the Finance Committee, a list or schedule of accounts for payment- other reports or notice of such reports- notice of orders of the day
