Porous media and images: an introduction

Abstract The research about porous media has a increasing demand in part of scientific community, and pursues the improvement in known techniques, as well the development of new methodologies. Image analysis is a very promising technique in this branch of applied science. In this paper we present some ideas behind the studies of porous materials via image analysis. We provide advanced references whenever necessary.
