In the present study, bioremediation performance of oily sludge obtained from Guwahati refinery of Indian Oil Corporation Limited, India by indigenous microbial populations have been elevated by implementing biostimulation and/or bioaugmentaion approaches. Biostimulation with nitrogen and phosphorus showed depletion of total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) upto 55% which further went upto 75% on complementing with bioaugmentation of previously isolated and characterized bacteria.
