Blood cultures were obtained from patients with fever and/or suspicion of serious systemic infection admitted at Mnazi Mmoja Hospital, Zanzibar. Pathogens growing in the blood cultures were identified and tested for antimicrobial susceptibility. Salmonella Typhi were analyzed by whole genome sequencing both for genes coding for antimicrobial resistance and for epidemiological relatedness.
