Educational development in international comparison

Focus of this study is the data of the educational system, collected in different European countries. Mainly there is information about the pupils’ number in primary schools, secondary schools and in universities collected. There is no information about the vocational education and adult education, because the differences between these systems are too strong. In order to get comparable data, the pupils’ registration quota (relative school-/high-school attendance) were collected (this means the proportion of pupils or students of the corresponding population’s age cohort). For each country the information are presented in three different tables: - Information about the primary school-system, - Information about the secondary school-system, - Information about the higher education (universities). Furthermore, time series about the population of the countries as well as about the population’s alphabetisation quota in Prussia/the German Empire, France, England and Wales and Russia are available.
