With the passage of the Atlantic Coastal Fisheries Cooperative Management Act of 1993 (Act) and later certification of $163,400 of federal funds to New Jersey for fiscal year 1996, a number of new planning, research, monitoring and enforcement activities were initiated to address compliance issues of several Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) inter-state fisheries management plans (FMP).
