The intestinal microbiota throughout the estrous cycle in mus musculus. Mus musculus

The goal of this study was to determine whether the estrous cycle influenced the composition of the intestinal microbiota of regularly cycling, non-pregnant, lean female mice. This study was conducted to investigate whether reproductive sex-steroid hormones were a factor contributing to the intestinal microbial shifts identified shortly after conception and throughout gestation in our model of lean mouse pregnancy.
