Energy balance and thermal regime on the soil surface: Livingston Island

The energy exchange between soil and atmosphere in polar summer regions is an efficient process to thawing active layer. In this project we have controlled different meteorological (air temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction, net radiation) and soil thermodynamic parameters (heat soil flux and gradient of temperature) in order to relate the balance energy on the surface with the thermal active layer evolution.
