Fungi associated with diseased winter squash grown for edible seed in Oregon. Raw sequence reads. Cucurbita maxima cv 'Golden Delicous'

This study was intended to identify and characterize the fungal community associated with diseased winter squash grown for edible seed in western Oregon. The disease presents as a root and crown rot and vascular wilt, therefore fungal samples were taken from root, crown and stem tissues. Fungi were collected via culturing and then single spore techniques. Internal transcribed spacer and Elongation factor 1 alpha gene regions were sequenced for identification of individual fungal strains. Fungal communities were compared using community ecology methods in order to identify an short list of potential causal agents of disease.
