Gut - Gill intermodulation in Danio rerio

We envisaged the gut - gill intermodulation in zebrafish models where respiratory distress was induced through the cigarette smoke extracts. The microbial markers were inferred through 16srRNA amplicon metagenomic sequencing that amplified V3-V4 regions. Later the effects of prebiotic as an antidote was tested and the microbial biomarkers were also identified after the prebiotic treatment. The discrete and shared microbial taxa identified in the study exemplifies the existence of gut- gill axis relatable to gut-lung axis in humans
