In the Gyeonggi gubernatorial election held in South Korea on June 1, 2022, Kim Dong-yeon of the main opposition Democratic Party won the race with 49.06 percent of votes, defeating the People Power Party candidate Kim Eun-hye by about 0.15 percentage points. The Gyeonggi gubernatorial election recorded a voter turnout of 50.6 percent.
