Featured with significant advantages include no oxygen requirement and impressive energy recovery, anaerobic digestion (AD) is an effective method to treat excessive sludge produced during municipal wastewater treatment process. By sequencing the V4-V5 region of 16S ribosomal RNA gene on Illumina platform, we analyzed 35 microbial communities of AD sludge from different reactors at multiple dates in Stickney wastewater treatment plant.
