Climate change projections of heatwaves in Valencia (Spain) based on CMIP6 bias-adjusted temperature and relative humidity data (1979-2100)

This dataset contains daily maximum air temperature and relative humidity time series used to assess heatwave evolution in Valencia (Spain) under climate change conditions. The dataset includes bias-adjusted climate projections from five CMIP6 global climate models available through the ISIMIP_ERA5Land framework: GFDL-ESM4 IPSL-CM6A-LR MPI-ESM1-2-HR MRI-ESM2-0 UKESM1-0-LL For each model, historical simulations (1979–2014) and future projections (2015–2100) under SSP126, SSP370 and SSP585 scenarios are provided. Data were extracted for the city of Valencia (Spain) using the corresponding ISIMIP-ERA5Land grid cell centroid. The dataset includes: Daily maximum air temperature (tasmaxAdjust, °C). Daily relative humidity (hursAjust, %). Historical reference datasets based on W5E5v2 and ERA5-Land. Derived heatwave event catalogues generated from temperature and heat index analyses. Heatwave events catalogue The file valores_picos_dataframe.csv contains the detected warm events and heatwaves for Valencia (Spain) from 1979 to 2100. The catalogue includes events derived from both historical simulations and future climate projections. Main variables include: Event identifier. Start date. End date. Event duration. Maximum temperature during the event. Critical temperature threshold. Heat index metrics. Climate model. Emission scenario. Heatwave identification follows the methodology described in the associated publication: "Potential impact of climate change on heatwaves at the urban scale: An evaluation in Valencia, Spain". All preprocessing steps, including spatial extraction, temporal aggregation and unit conversion, were performed in Python.
