Whole Genome Sequencing of Japanese purple gromwell

Lithospermum erythrorhizon, commonly known as purple gromwell, is a medicinal plant endemic to East Asian countries. In Japan, this plant has historically thrived in the wild, and the roots have been exploited for dyeing and medicinal purposes. However, due to overharvesting and changes in natural environments, the population has undergone significant decline over recent decades. Consequently, it becomes necessary to acquire genomic and phylogenetic data in order to safeguard the domestic purple gromwell population. Therefore, we sequenced the genome of a domestic variety originating from Nagano Prefecture, Japan, which has been conserved by Amato Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd.
