Photograph of Douglas B-66 Detroyer jet in flight, ca.1960. At center, a large Air Force jet is visible in flight. The body of the jet is cylindrical near its top, but wide and flat near its bottom. The beak of the plane is rounded, and a large thin rod can be seen extending from the front of the plane. Two large cylindrical engines are located under the wings of the plane. Also, another smaller cylinder can be seen adjacent to each engine. A large emblem in the shape of a star is visible near the tail of the plane. Near this emblem, four small rocket-assisted takeoff cylinders can be seen attached to the body of the plane emitting flame and smoke. Three large wheels are visible beneath the plane's massive body.
